Community start up

Preparation

  • UVicSpace staff contacts a potential community, or a potential community contacts UVicSpace to discuss the advantages of the institutional repository
  • UVicSpace staff will provide a presentation/demonstration to groups upon request
  • UVicSpace documentation is made available (policy documents, work flow options, etc.)
  • community names a community coordinator (if possible)

Community defines and provides:

  • community page information and logo
  • collection access policies
  • defaults for meta data submission form
  • collection page(s) information and logo
  • sub-community page(s) information and logo
  • completed work flow form for each collection: work flow details, and a list of authorized people for each work flow role (submitter, reviewer, meta data editor, coordinator)

UVicSpace provides:

  • the community web page
  • sub-community web page(s)
  • collection web page(s)
  • authorization to submit
  • access control as agreed upon with the community
  • work flow roles authorizations
  • training session(s) as requested by the community
