Language Revitalization

These ideas and this video are based on a guide created by Onowa McIvor—Indigenous education researcher at the University of Victoria—with the Canadian Commission on UNESCO. It’s based on research by McIvor as part of the national language revitalization project called NEȾOLṈEW̱, translated as “one mind, one people” or “doing things as one” in the SENĆOŦEN language.

Resource created by the First Peoples' Cultural Council. The Language Revitalization Planning Toolkit was developed to support Indigenous communities to create their own language revitalization plan. The toolkit offers instructions, examples and templates for a community-based planning process.
