Select a License

When publishing a dataset, it is important to assign a copyright license that clearly communicates how others are able to use your data.

For data files, select an open license that allows flexibility in whether or not attribution is required and how data can or cannot be reused and shared. Read more about data licenses
For software, you should select a software license that protect copyright and prevents you from liability in case of issues in the code. Read more about software licenses
