Diversify Your Sources

The library guide provides resources and strategies to find diversity voices in learning and research.

About this guide

This resource guide serves as a starting point for finding diverse or underrepresented voices in academic research and learning. It aims at highlighting the UVic Libraries collections which are less euro-centric and broader in content scope. For resources in a specific discipline, please check the relevant subject guides

The scholarly publication system, historically and at present, more or less privileges certain groups or individuals and excludes others, which causes the problem of lack of diversity in our knowledge legacy system. Your efforts of critically evaluating and citing diverse sources will contribute in encouraging innovation and correcting epistemic bias and inequity in knowledge production and distribution.

However, due to the historical and political reasons, many early sources included in the databases listed here were produced and published under the colonial model. Students are encouraged to critically review these content case by case before using it.
