Current Events: Crisis in Ukraine

This guide attempts to provide information about the current crisis in the Ukraine.

Introduction

On 24 February 2022, Russia launched a large scale invasion into Ukraine.  This guide explore these events, provides places to get current information, and explores the historical and political contexts.

UVic's librarians will be building this guide over time, adding additional content and the perspectives of other disciplines.

Introduction

There are many places to find current news about these events.  Reading a wide vareity of sources will help you consider different points of view, differing focus and priorities, and determine what you believe is trustworthy information.

Special thanks to Serhy Yekelchyk, History and Germanic & Slavic Studies, UVic, for his advice on this list.

Current News Databases

If you need a permanent, citable source for newspaper or other news media articles, find them in one of these databases.  In most cases, articles are current (from print editions), and many of these databases also provide stable, citable articles from online editions of newspapers and other news media.
