Grants and Awards

A guide to grants funding and awards resources at UVic Libraries.

Learning and Teaching Centre Grants

The Experiential Learning Fund Grant (ELF) provides support for experiential learning by increasing opportunities for students to participate in experiential learning and building capacity for experiential learning at UVic. The grant supports three specific areas for experiential learning: Community-Engaged Learning (CEL), Field-Based Learning (FBL) and Research-Enriched Teaching (RET) initiatives.

Community-engaged learning is experiential, community-engaged, reciprocal, and involves real-life application of course content. The Community-Engaged Learning Emergent Activities Fund facilitates reciprocal relationships with community partners and supports learning by contributing up to $250 per experience to basic costs, such as community partner honoraria, transportation, and printing.

The Course Design/Redesign Grant supports the design of a new course/redesign of an existing course and its implementation. These grants are course-specific.

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant supports empirical research on the impact of teaching practices on student learning and is intended to support an interactive community of scholars exploring improvements in teaching and learning. These grants are course- or program-specific.

The Anti-Racism Initiative Grant supports faculty and staff in designing new courses, creating new materials for existing courses or substantially revising courses, programs and curriculum or learning resources that will help fulfill UVic’s commitment to anti-racism and the values of equity, diversity and inclusion.

The Open Educational Resource Grant supports the adoption, adaptation or development of open educational resources (OERs), with the aim of replacing existing textbooks or other types of educational resources that can be prohibitively expensive.

The Strategic Initiative Indigenous Grant supports faculty and staff in substantially revising programs, courses, curricula, or learning resources that will help fulfill UVic’s commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

The Strategic Initiative International Grant is intended to encourage members of the university community to substantially update and renew existing courses and programs to reflect principles of internationalization as highlighted in the UVic International Plan.
