Grants and Awards

A guide to grants funding and awards resources at UVic Libraries.

Welcome to the guide for all things related to grants and awards! Created by the Grants and Awards office at UVic Libraries, this guide provides an overview of the resources we offer for faculty, librarians, staff, and students interested in applying for a grant or award.

The guide is structured to reflect the stage of the process you might be at in applying for a grant or award and to answer questions such as:

  • What grants and awards are available?
  • What are the major funding agencies in Canada?
  • How do I write a successful application?
  • What supports are available through UVic Libraries and the university more broadly?
  • How can UVic Libraries be a partner on faculty research?

An important note about AI and grant writing:

"With the rise of powerful artificial intelligence tools...grant applicants should be aware that they are responsible for writing their applications themselves. This is a question of research integrity, with matters related to plagiarism and invalid authorship currently covered by the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research. Furthermore, use of AI tools could result in your original content being harvested by other platforms and used without your consent or without citing your authorship. AI-enabled grant-writing tools are imperfect, amplify biases and should not be depended on to craft applications." (
