What is the Matrix Institute?

The Matrix Institute is a cross campus initiative founded in 2018 and hosted by the Faculty of Engineering that brings together stakeholders from the academic, industrial, and governmental sectors.

How is the Institute's purpose related to Artificial Intelligence?

All members are driven by a mutual goal of partnering on projects centered around practical data science applications. One of its designated areas of expertise is machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining. The institute regularly organizes events around its subjects, including A.I.

What is the UVic AI Club?

UVic AI Club was founded in 2019. It supports students affiliated with UVic interested in research on and scientific application of artificial intelligence by providing and promoting a safe, open, and inclusive workspace that encourages passion-driven learning around A.I.

What activities does UVic AI Club engage in?

UVic AI Club promotes interest in artificial intelligence research and advocates for university programs leading to degrees related to that field. It strives to achieve its goals through AI software development, it collaborates with other clubs and community organizations, participates in AI competitions, theorizes about practical AI solutions, offers mentoring programs for those who wish to improve their AI programming skills, and organizes events related to AI
