Help Videos on Searching for Books in UVic Libraries

Below you will find an instructional video created by UVic Libraries on how to search for and locate books. You can also find illustrated guides to Library Search, instructional videos and search strategy guides to make the full use of UVic Libraries resources.

Call Numbers/Subject Headings

Check a floor map to locate a print book in the McPherson Library.

Select a Library of Congress subject heading to browse books in the UVic Libraries.  Remember, this is just a sampling of Education related subject headings.  Be sure to do your own search or ask a librarian for assistance.

Search the library catalogue

If you know the item you are searching for, such as the title of a journal or the author of a book, then searching the library catalogue (the 'Books & Media' tab on the library's home page) is often the quickest search strategy.

Search for physical items including books and media.
