Grants and Awards

A guide to grants funding and awards resources at UVic Libraries.

Welcome

Welcome to the guide for all things related to grants and awards! Created by the Grants and Awards office at UVic Libraries, this guide provides an overview of the resources we offer for faculty, librarians, staff, and students interested in applying for a grant or award.

The guide is structured to reflect the stage of the process you might be at in applying for a grant or award and to answer questions such as:

  • What grants and awards are available?
  • What are the major funding agencies in Canada?
  • How do I write a successful application?
  • What supports are available through UVic Libraries and the university more broadly?
  • How can UVic Libraries be a partner on faculty research?

For queries about grants or awards, please email librarygrants@uvic.ca.

For queries about student awards, scholarships, and/or fellowships, please email libraryscholarships@uvic.ca.

Tri-Agency policy on AI and grant writing:

From the Guidance on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the development and review of research grant proposals:

"The agencies recognize that generative AI may be a valuable tool to applicants in the preparation of grant applications, including the potential to improve efficiency, assist non-native English and French speakers, and streamline the proposal writing process.

In accordance with existing agency policies, applicants are responsible for ensuring that information included in their grant applications is true, accurate and complete and that all sources are appropriately acknowledged and referenced. Applicants should be aware that using generative AI may lead to the presentation of information without proper recognition of authorship or acknowledgement.

Applicants must state if and how generative AI has been used in the development of their application and are required to follow specific instructions, which will be provided for each funding opportunity as they become available."
