ORCID: Enhancing your Research Profile

ORCID allows scholars and students to record and share their professional activities with a global audience.

Add education and qualifications

The Education and qualifications section is for information about organizations where you have studied and/or that have awarded you an educational or professional qualification.

Each affiliation includes the organization’s name and location, the date that the affiliation started, and who added the information to your record: you, or a trusted organization.

Education

Choose education to add information about an academic higher education program. This can be in progress or unfinished (no listed end date).

Examples of education include:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Graduate degree
  • Masters degree
  • Doctorate degree

Qualification

Choose qualification to add information about a professional or vocational accreditation, certification, or training program. This can be in progress or unfinished (no end date).

Examples of qualifications include:

  • Professional and continuing education qualifications,
  • Professional and continuing education training,
  • Professional and continuing education certification.

Add/edit an education or qualification affiliation manually

  • To add a new education or qualification affiliation, scroll to Education and qualifications.
  • Click +Add. Select Add Education or Add Qualification.

  • In the pop-up, enter the name of the organization. As you type the system will automatically suggest options from a pre-populated list. If your organization does not appear, manually type its name and click outside of the field.

  • City and Country are required fields.
  • Department: The department related to the affiliation. This could be the specific department, e.g. Music Theory.
    • Education: Degree/title: The title, level, and result of the degree, e.g. Bachelor of Arts
    • Qualification: Role/Title: The title of the course or professional certification, e.g. Certificate in Legal Translation
  • Start date: The start date of your relationship with the organization. A start date is encouraged, but not required.
  • End date: The end date of your relationship with the organization. If your studies or qualifications are not complete, you do not need to supply an end date.
  • Link: A website URL related to your education or qualification, e.g. a link to your certificate on the organization’s website.
