Anthropology- For Graduate Students

Resources, tips and tools for graduate students in anthropology.

What is EndNote?

EndNote is a citation manager you can use to create, store and manage libraries of bibliographic references and automatically create and format bibliographies.  There are two versions of EndNote available:

  • EndNote X8 is software stored on your computer, and provides more functionality. (It is not free to use.)
  • EndNote Web is a web-based, more basic version of the X8 software, available via the Web of Science database.  (It is free to use for current students, staff, and faculty at UVic.)
  • WARNING: Because EndNote Web is hosted in the United States, personal information will be stored on servers outside Canada and is subject to the U.S. Patriot Act.

The EndNote section of this guide covers the version of EndNote Web that is free to UVic users.
