Food and Drink

To provide a comfortable, positive, and welcoming learning environment for students, the Mearns Centre for Learning - McPherson Library allows food and covered drinks in most areas.

Please help us maintain our facilities and collections:

  • Keep a lid on drinks.
  • Enjoy your cold snacks (we have recycling and garbage bins available on all floors – compost bins can be found in the BiblioCafé).
  • Tell our staff about any spills or garbage issues (call the Loan Desk at 250-721-8230 or text us at 778-400-4518).
  • Avoid putting liquids in the garbage bins.

There are a few areas and types of food that are not permitted:

  • No food or drinks in Special Collections and Archives.
  • No hot and/or aromatic foods in any area.
  • No food deliveries to the Library.

Please be conscious of your fellow students and community members – food wrappers and snacks can be noisy!

Thanks for helping us make this a comfortable environment for everyone.
