What can I do in the library?
- Search & find Use search everything to find books, journals, data, audio-visual materials, e-resources, and more. If you find an item, you need to check its availability and write down the call number to locate it on the shelf. For e-resources, the web link will direct you to the content. Journal articles can be searched in subject-related databases. You may also want to look at relevant e-journals. If you have a Netlink ID and password, you will be able to get to all of our resources from off-campus.
- Browse the shelves Journals and books are shelved together according to their related subjects, which makes it easy for you to browse your areas of interests. If you are looking for dictionaries, encyclopedias, and maps, you need to browse the Reference Collection and Maps Area. Please do not reshelve library materials.
- Borrow materials Check out borrowing information to find out how many items you can borrow and how long to keep them. You can renew your items if others have not requested them. Borrow DVDs or CDs from Music & media.
- Borrow materials not available at UVic Use interlibrary loan to borrow materials from other libraries. The titles of your requests must be in the romanized alphabet.
- Study We have many study spaces. Book a study room online for group meetings. If you're a graduate student you can reserve a graduate study carrel.
- Find reserves Your professor may have put books or articles on reserve for your class.
- Computers, printing and photocopying Ask the staff at the library help desk for help with computers, printing or photocopying.
- Get academic help The Learning Commons in McPherson library provides academic writing support and learning help. You can make appointments with tutors online.
- Get Research help – Ask Us!
