A guide to resources in UVic Libraries for the study of mathematics and statistics

Welcome to the Math/Stats Research Guide at UVic Libraries

This guide is for Mathematics & Statistics students looking for resources held by UVic Libraries to help connect you with relevant course and research materials.

If you've been searching and can't find what you're looking for, send an email to askus@uvic.ca.

One of our friendly librarians will be happy to assist you with any of the following:

  • Help with literature searches and finding systematic reviews
  • Provide one-on-one advice about your research topic
  • Teach you advanced techniques for database searching
  • Assist you with setting up auto alerts for selected search strategies
  • Introduce you to an array of library resources available through UVic Libraries
  • Teach you about citation management tools that can help format bibliographies

If you require tutoring support in your 100- and 200-level Math and Stats courses, be sure to contact the Math and Stats Assistance Centre in the Learning Commons in McPherson Library.

Are you looking for a specific journal article, e-book, or book?

You can type the name of the article, e-book, or book into Summon. Summon lets you simultaneously search the Library's many full text e-journal articles as well as its print and book collection.

Are you searching for mathematical or statistical literature articles?

MathSciNet is a good place to start. See the box "MathSciNet tutorials" below for how-to help.
