What it is, its value, where to search for it, and how to evaluate it.

What are government publications?

Information produced and published by government agencies, ministries, departments.

  • Can be from municipal, provincial, federal, or Indigenous governments
  • Can be in the form of reports, studies, statistics, websites, data, books, white papers, etc.
  • Usually created for specific purposes

Why include them in your search?

  • Governments may publish information not found elsewhere
  • Governments fund research activities and make data and reports available
  • Reports available in a broad scope of topics/subjects
