The Departmental Library Faculty Representative (DLFR) represents a department’s priorities and interests relating to UVic Libraries ensuring open, engaged, and enduring connection.
The purpose of the DLFR role is to encourage and facilitate communications between the Libraries and individual academic departments via their subject librarian. The DLFR role is a one-year, renewable term, with a regular start date of July 1.
The Libraries' DLFR Operational Group co-ordinates the Faculty & Lecturers Newsletter and occasional events to bring the DLFRs, subject librarians, and UVic Libraries together.
Here's how your subject librarian can help:
- By contacting you regarding upcoming workshops, events, and other information of interest to departmental faculty, instructors, and students
- By promoting faculty research through a variety of means, as well as connecting you to library support for grants, research data management, metadata consulting, digital preservation, etc.
- By communicating library activities, collection development suggestions, database trials, etc.
- By creating library workshops to fit with departmental course needs & objectives
- By creating Course Guides or Subject Guides of relevance
- By connecting you with other librarians and library staff with expertise relevant to your department’s needs
