19th Century British Newspapers Collection of national and regional newspapers of Victorian Britain. This full-text, fully searchable digital archive includes 50 papers originating in England, Scotland and Ireland, carefully selected by an editorial board from the British Library and providing a broad yet detailed view of British life in the 19th century. The collection is made up of daily and weekly publications and reflects Britain's growing role as a superpower in the 19th century world.

Few of the materials in this extensive online collection have ever been reissued, in any format since original publication. All the original colour work has been specially captured for this programme.

The archive also correlates the previously anonymous articles and those written under pseudonyms with the private ledgers of contributors kept by the Punch editors, in many cases revealing for the first time the true identity of the authors.

Victorian Popular Culture Comprised of four separate collections : 1. Spiritualism, Sensation and Magic 2. Circuses, Sideshows and Freaks 3. Music Hall, Theatre and Popular Entertainment 4. Nineteenth Century Collections Online (NCCO) A resource for 19th century studies, NCCO is a multi-year global digitization and publishing program focused on primary source collections of the “long” nineteenth century. Collections for this program are sourced through partnerships with major world libraries as well as specialist libraries, and content includes monographs, newspapers, pamphlets, manuscripts, ephemera, maps, statistics, and more.

Victorian Women Writers Project Produces transcriptions by British women writers of the 19th century, encoded using SGML. The texts include anthologies, novels, political pamphlets, religious tracts, chidren's books and volumes of poetry and verse drama. List of authors and works currently available as well as websites.

This edition of the collection includes approximately 100,000 pages of published letters and diaries from individuals writing from 1500 to 1900, including several thousand pages of previously unpublished materials. Drawn from 290 sources, including journal articles, pamphlets, newsletters, monographs, and conference proceedings, much of the material is in copyright. Represented are all age groups and life stages, all ethnicities, many geographical regions, the famous and the not so famous. The collection has been developed alongside North American Women's Letters and Diaries, which uses the same software and indexing to provide access to more than 150,000 pages of American material from Colonial times to 1950.

Nineteenth-Century Short Title Catalogue (NSTC) NSTC defines the printed record of the English-speaking world from the beginning of the nineteenth century to the end of the First World War, comprising more than 1.2 million records drawn from eight copyright and research libraries.
Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals, 1800-1900 A directory to the largest single body of historical documents arising out of nineteenth century England at the height of the British Empire. It is subject-comprehensive, intending to include every periodical and newspaper published on a regular basis, from daily to annually, in every language, within England. UVic subscribes to Series 1, 2, and 3.
Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals Wellesley Index to Victoria Periodicals, is an index to the authorship of articles, and a bibliography of articles written by each contributor, and using each pseudonym. Citations of evidence are provided to support attributions of authorship, along with brief biographical and vocational details. 45 important monthly and quarterly titles are included, covering the period from the beginning of the Westminster Review in 1824 to the end of the century. The exception to this is the Edinburgh Review, which is indexed from first issue, in 1802. Wellesley does not index poetry. Robertson Davies Victorian Plays
The Robertson Davies Nineteenth Century Theatre playbook collection housed in Special Collections contains approximately 1,200 play books and 13 prompt books. They were collected by Robertson Davies when he was living in London in the 1940's and 1950's.
The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club by Charles Dickens
The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club (better known as The Pickwick Papers) was the first novel by Charles Dickens. It was published in 1836-1837 as a serial in 20 parts with the final two parts published together.
