Alma & Primo VE

This site keeps the UVic community up-to-date on the upcoming changes to UVic Libraries' search interface. On June 28, 2022, the catalogue and search interface will be moving to a new library management platform called Alma and Primo VE.

How does this affect me?

Summon has been replaced and the functions are combined into the new Library Search. As a result:

  • The layout and search categories look different
  • Screenshots and/or tutorial material that reference the library catalogue or Summon may be temporarily out-of-date 
  • You may have to use new search strategies

What do I need to do?

For instructors

As you get ready for the coming semester, please keep in mind that once the new Library Search goes live in June 2022, any handouts, slides, course materials, etc. that refer to the library search function may need to be updated.

For researchers

Let your subject librarian know if there are specific search strategies or known item searches you want us to test in the new system. Librarians will work with you to replicate these searches in the new Library Search.
