UVic Libraries offers a number of services to support your data needs. We provide help from the moment you conceive of a project to the moment you publish about it – and long after.
The Libraries curate thousands of licensed and open datasets for research. Our Acquisitions staff and librarians negotiate the procurement of datasets for UVic researchers. We steward enduring assets that support reproducible research.
Multiple units at UVic Libraries and UVic specialize in domain-specific content and methods, including hands-on support for data-intensive projects. The Libraries offer skill-building workshops and consultations, and connect you with other experts across campus.
We help you document, describe, and structure data to maximize access and help ensure preservation to meet FAIR data & Canadian Tri-Council requirements. Scholarly Communications advises on licenses, helping researchers make informed data-sharing decisions for publication.
The Libraries employ scores of subject and technical specialists who are experts in supporting data-intensive research.
Multiple areas and teams in the Libraries contribute to making Data Services possible, including: Advanced Research Services, Engagement and Learning, Grants & Awards, Metadata, Special Collections & Archives, University Librarians Office, and Web Archiving
