The Canadian Chartr of Rights and Freedoms

The Canadian Charter of Rights and freedoms guarantees that everyone has the fundamental  "freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication".   These freedoms can only be limited only by "such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society".   This is the legal basis for freedom to read in Canada.
