Course description/resources for Academic Integrity workshop

Learning Outcomes

This workshop was designed for primarily first year students, and introduces the two key concepts "Scholarship is a conversation" and "Information has value", as well as reviewing the key elements of a citation and the conventions of scholarly conversation.

During this workshop, students will learn:

  • that scholarship is a conversation
  • that there are conventions to academic communication within disciplines
  • why, when and how to cite
  • parts of a citation (in-text and reference list)
  • specifics of one citation style
  • where to get help with citing and academic integrity
