Things you need to know for your research

Identify your Research Question / Topic

Explore possible research ideas. Talk with your instructor about your potential research questions.
Step One: Conduct some test searches to assess if your topic is viable.
Use any of the following sources to investigate your potential topic; look for background information, key theories, researchers and related issues.

Step Two: Read a few overview (or review) articles to understand the topic and its key issues, persons, places and different opinions as well as related (sub)topics. When reading, note and write keywords or terms for future searches. Thoroughly read the References for more potential sources.

Step Three: Books provide a more comprehensive coverage on a topic. You can limit your search results for books.

Step Four:  Draft a research question with a list of best keywords to describe your topic. The keywords will be the search terms for further research in the library.

This is a back-and-forth process.
Be prepared to start a new search to test your new ideas of research topics!
