Evidence Synthesis Institute - Canadian Edition

We are pleased to announce that the Evidence Synthesis Institute Canada which was offered in 2022 and 2023 will be offered again in Spring 2024. ESI Canada is based on the original Evidence Synthesis Institute (which is a US Institute of Museum and Library Services-supported program geared towards providing training on evidence synthesis). The Institute is aimed at library staff primarily supporting evidence syntheses in topics outside of the health sciences and will cover:

• overview of systematic reviews and similar methodologies,
• guidelines and standards,
• search strategy development,
• software/tools,
• screening, and
• systematic review services

Applicants should anticipate addressing the following questions in their application:

• Why is this training relevant to your current work or career development?
• How will you use specialized evidence synthesis skills in your job?
• How do you anticipate sharing what you learn at this workshop with colleagues, researchers, and/or students?

We are able to accept 50 participants in this Institute. Applications will be screened and prioritized based on current employment in a library/research setting, urgency of need, existing knowledge gap, disciplines supported by applicant, and potential impact of training. Applicants supporting non-health sciences disciplines will be prioritized.

The 2024 version of Evidence Synthesis Institute Canada is brought to you by a partnership between the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) and University of Victoria Libraries. The Institute will involve no charge for accepted applicants.

The Institute is planned to run virtually from March 18-21, 2024. The Institute will run from 12-5pm ET / 9am-2pm PT each day. The application period to participate will begin on December 18th and successful applicants will be notified by February 6th, 2024.

Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer que l'Institut de synthèse des connaissances Canada, qui a été offert en 2022 et 2023, sera à nouveau offert au printemps 2024. ISC Canada est basé sur l'Evidence Synthesis Institute original (qui est un programme soutenu par l'Institute of Museum and Library Services au etats unis offrant une formation sur la synthèse des connaissances). L'Institut s'adresse au personnel de la bibliothèque qui soutient principalement la synthèse des connaissances sur des sujets autres que les sciences de la santé et couvrira:

• Un aperçu des revues systématiques et des méthodologies similaires;
• Les lignes directrices et normes;
• Le développement de la stratégie de recherche;
• Les logiciels/outils, et services d'examen systématique.

Les candidats doivent prévoir de répondre aux questions suivantes dans leur candidature:

• Pourquoi cette formation est-elle pertinente pour votre travail actuel ou votre évolution de carrière?
• Comment utiliserez-vous vos compétences spécialisées en synthèse des connaissances dans votre travail?
• Comment envisagez-vous de partager ce que vous avez appris lors de cet atelier avec des collègues, des chercheurs et/ou des étudiants?

Nous pouvons accepter 50 participants. Les candidatures seront examinées et classées par ordre de priorité en fonction de l'emploi actuel dans une bibliothèque / cadre de recherche, de l'urgence des besoins, des lacunes existantes dans les connaissances, des disciplines soutenues par le candidat et de l'impact potentiel de la formation. Les candidats soutenant des disciplines autres que les sciences de la santé seront priorisés.

La version 2024 de Institut de synthèse des connaissances Canada vous est présentée grâce à un partenariat entre l'Association des bibliothèques de recherche du Canada (ABRC) et les bibliothèques de l'Université de Victoria. Il n'y aura pas de frais pour les candidats acceptés.

L'Institut devrait avoir lieu virtuellement du 18 au 21 mars 2024. Les jours indiqués, l'Institut se déroulera de 12h à 17h HE / 9h à 14h PT. L'appel à candidatures sera ouvert à partir du 18 décembre 2023 et les candidats retenus seront informés avant le 6 février 2024.
