Data and Journals

Many journal publishers have developed policies for sharing the research data underlying the manuscripts they publish. Policies range from statements encouraging data be shared as supplementary materials to explicit requirements that all data supporting a journal article be made available in an approved digital repository.

Data Journals are publications whose primary purpose is to promote datasets with high reuse value through the publication of "data papers", which document and describe published datasets. Data journals provide an important means of peer-review for datasets.
