Accidental data loss can be disastrous for any research project.
Data management plans should clearly identify where data will be stored throughout the active phase of a research project and the frequency with which it will be backed up. It is recommended that you follow the 3-2-1 rule: Save three copies of your data on two different storage mediums, and one copy off-site.
