"Creating a lesson plan is an act of the imagination."

We're here to help
The templates and samples included in this guide are intended as examples for our teacher candidates. They do not represent a mandatory format endorsed by UVic Education or the Curriculum Library, nor are they representative of the BC Ministry of Education. They are simply meant to be a starting place.
We encourage our students to consult with their instructors, mentor teachers and practicum supervisors to see if they have a format preference.
Tips for using this guide
This guide is divided into classroom subject areas (see the tabs in the sidebar), with sub-pages featuring grade-specificity.
Use the Lesson and unit planning page if you are interested in multi-grade and multi-subject planning. Several of the featured books can be used across subject disciplines.
The Indigenous education page can also be helpful when planning cross-curricular lessons or units. Weaving Indigenous content into your plans can enrich your lessons and engage learners in a meaningful way.
If you have any questions about lesson or unit planning, come see Carol Nahachewsky at the Help Desk or e-mail email@example.com.
