A guide to French language, literature and culture resources in UVic Libraries


This guide is designed to help get you started with your library research on French language, literature, and culture. Click on any of the links on the left to find books, articles, and more.

  • "Find Books, Articles" will list resources to find secondary sources.
  • "Reference Shelf" will give you information on citation styles, encyclopedias and dictionaries, and the Library of Congress Classification system (LCC). 
  • "Citation Help" provides advice on using MLA, APA, and Chicago in French. 
  • "Primary Sources" lists French archives (online & offline) as well as links to our French newspaper collections. 
  • "French-Canadian Resources" contains research links specific to Canadian French culture and literature. 
  • "Digital Projects" has links to online resources in French.
