To familiarize students with the concepts and principles of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights in the United States and (to a lesser extent) the European Union comparatively with Canada.
A comparative coverage between Canadian copyright law and that principally of the United States but with some comparison of the civil law concept droit d’auteur (“author’s right system”) in Europe. The framework provided by the international treaties concerning copyright will also be considered, but the primary focus will be comparative.
