National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation
The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) is a significant Canadian institution committed to preserving the history and legacy of the residential school system. It was created under the mandate of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) and is housed at the University of Manitoba.
The NCTR acts as an archival repository for all materials gathered by the TRC, such as survivor testimonies, government and church records, photographs, and other documents. Its mission is to honor residential school survivors, promote reconciliation, and encourage ongoing learning and dialogue about the residential school experience.
