Indigenous Approaches to Holistic Wellness

Our current mandate is to support literacy programs in the community; encourage a love of books and reading; and raise awareness of the valuable and impressive history, accomplishments, knowledge and skills of Indigenous people in Canada. Throughout 2021, the Library will be Indigenizing and refurbishing its space and is looking forward to incorporating Reconciliation as its focus.

The First Nations Perspective on Health and Wellness aims to visually depict and describe the First Nations Health Authority Vision: Healthy, Self-Determining and Vibrant BC First Nations Children, Families and Communities. This visual depiction of the Perspective on Health and Wellness is a tool for the FNHA and First Nations Communities. It aims to create shared understanding of an holistic vision of wellness.

The First Peoples Wellness Circle has a vision, mission, and long-term plan to promote and enhance native mental health in Canada based on Indigenous worldview which is a unique perspective that differs significantly from Western conceptions of mental illness and mental health.
