This introductory resource guide is for UVic Faculty of Education students looking for supplementary resources held by UVic Libraries on the topic of language and literacy research.

Search the library catalogue

If you know the item you are searching for, such as the title of a journal or the author of a book, then searching the library catalogue (the 'Books & Media' tab on the library's home page) is often the quickest search strategy.

UVic Libraries holds hundreds of books in the area of language and literacy, below is a listing of some related subject headings.  For a full outline of the Library of Congress subject headings related to Education (Class L) consult the Library of Congress listing for class L and its subclasses.  

Remember that related fields such as language and literature (P) and Social Science (H) may also have relevant titles.  Be sure to do your own catalogue search on your own topics.
