Special Collections is an area within Mearns-McPherson Library which houses rare, unique, or valuable material. It has many collections related to English Literature, which students are encouraged to use. Note the hours and special guidelines for using this material, which you are not able to take home.

Literature Collections
The archival holdings at University of Victoria Special Collections include correspondence, published and unpublished works and other primary documents for several Canadian authors.

Early Canadiana Online
The Canadiana Online collection contains 19 million pages (96,000 titles) of digitized historical publications, including monographs, serials, and government publications. The collection is largely composed of materials published prior to 1921.

Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproduction (CIHM)
A vast collection of Canadiana, including Canadian Literature, from earliest times to the 1930s, collected and reproduced on microfilm by Library and Archives Canada. Find these titles in the Main Library catalogue. Less than 10% are also available to view online via the catalogue or Early Canadiana Online.
