LTSI: Resources on the use of A.I. tools in learning and teaching
Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation (LTSI) have developed resources that provide a detailed overview of the use of ChatGPT (and similar A.I.-based tools) in studying and teaching. We recommend LTSI's resources as an important contribution to advocating A.I. literacy at UVic campus and beyond. It will be updated regularly.
For students
LTSI's comprehensive overview The Use Of Artificial Intelligence Tools Such As ChatGPT In The Classroom, which is aimed at students, not only provides an introduction to the topic, including technical basics on how these applications work, it also covers a variety of relevant aspects that should be considered by students in the context of using A.I. for their assignments, with a focus on academic integrity.
For educators
The use of artificial intelligence tools and implications for Academic Integrity is the LTSI resource, which provides insights and support around the use of AI tools in teaching environments, covers a range of aspects that might be relevant to educators who wish to consider the possible use of A.I. applications in their teaching, as well as how to engage with students who may be using such tools. It offers a number of approaches and suggestions, such as a blueprint for a discussion around academic integrity (including materials for adaptation), or ideas and examples for a constructive use of generative AI applications as learning vehicles.
