Education - Teaching Science

A guide to resources held by UVic Libraries on teaching Science in British Columbia from Kindergarten to Grade 12

The Curriculum Library

Located on the second floor of the D wing in the MacLaurin Building, The Curriculum Library holds about half of UVic Libraries' Education collection.  Titles held in 'Curric' focus on practical teaching resources, ministry curriculum documents, teacher development books, and Kindergarten to Grade 12 education materials.  Not only does Curric hold about 35,000 print books, we also have growing collections of puppets, puzzles, kits, big books, a drum, records, historical textbooks, and blackline masters all available for borrowing.  Curric allows food (so long as you pack out your trash) and is not a silent study space (though please be noise-aware and courteous to your fellow students).

If you are looking for titles on adult education, higher education, and educational theory,
spend some time in the L's on the third floor (south-east corner) of McPherson Library.

Curric's loan desk staff are super helpful!

The Curric team can renew your books, refer you to great education resources throughout the library, loan you a laptop or noise-cancelling headphones, and help you find course reserves.

Call or email the Curric loan desk or drop by and visit.

Need research help?  Have an assignment due soon and not sure where to start searching in the library?  The Education and Children's Literature Librarian, Pia Russell, is happy to help you.

Visit Pia during her office hours, send her an email, make an appointment, or swing by Curric and see if she's around (she usually is).  Pia's office is in McPherson Library, but she spends quite a bit of time in Curric meeting students, maintaining the collection, and working with the Curric staff.

If you need immediate research assistance and Pia is not available, visit the McPherson Library Research Help desk and a librarian on duty will be able to assist you.
