Librarians and staff at the Priestly Law Library primarily support the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria. Members of the wider University and broader communities are also welcome to use the Law Library space and resources. If you are a self-represented litigant or seeking legal information for personal reasons, please consult the Courthouse Libraries of BC.
Services we are able to provide:
- Help with identifying appropriate law-related library resources such as books and websites, and tips on how to use them
- Suggestions on general research strategies, such as consulting secondary resources before primary
- Access to our public computer workstations to help facilitate your research with a guest netlink ID (please ask for a guest netlink ID at the front desk)
- Directions to non-specialist research guides that may be helpful for legal questions
- Assistance in learning to use other library services
- Information about law-related services directed toward non-lawyers
Services we are not able to provide:
- Explanations and interpretations of words and concepts that have a legal meaning
- Legal advice
