Education - Children's Literature in the Classroom

A guide for locating grade-appropriate children's literature for use in the classroom.

Finding picture books

"Picture books are for everybody at any age, not books to be left behind as we grow older. The best ones leave a tantalising gap between the pictures and the words, a gap that is filled by the reader’s imagination, adding so much to the excitement of reading a book." ~Anthony Browne, UK Children’s Laureate, 2009-2011

Picture books are powerful things. They can tug at our heartstrings, inspire us to dream, and make us wish we could fly. They help us to tame monsters, woo giants, and outsmart witches.  They present a reflection of ourselves when we felt so small, they provide a map for growing up, and a compass for returning home again.

And, because finding the right picture book at the right time for your lesson is not always easy, we've created the "Picture book" sub-divided pages to help you find your way. Just look on the side-bar for the list too pick from.
